Hodge and Reed once again won the men's heavy pair, we've become so used to seeing Hodge win trials that it is easy to forget that this means that for the 8th season in a row Hodge has been top in the pair in a squad that, for the last few seasons has been on top of the rowing World, outstanding. Mo and James managed 4th, this places them as top pair out of the athletes that were in the 8 last season, another awesome acheivement for 2 great MBC guys who keep getting better and better. Cam Nicholl with his pairs partner Dan Richie came in 5th and Tom Ransley, registered for trials with York City but also a member of MBC's victorious 2010 HoRR winning crew placed 6th pairing with Nathan Reilly O'Donnell.
The B final was won by one time Molesey rower and old-Hamptonian Karl Hudspith who is now at OUBC and was in a pair with Constantine Louloudis, Louloudis at 19 years of age may well be on his way to replicating the feats of Pinsent and Lucy by stepping straight from School to Senior, all three have won at the Junior Worlds, Constantine however has added to this already with an U23 silver at the end of his final year at Eton. Whilst at Eton he won the PE at HRR twice. Not a bad little rowing CV developing there, be a shame to see it go pink..
Second in the B final was Greg Searle's pair followed by a fast finishing Ben Smith and Fred Gill with Dan Ouseley and George Nash's (he of the 2008 broken wrist that lead to Pugh spending time at Abingdon Police Station) pair finishing 5th. Due to the weather all 3 races (time trial, semi and final) were pushed into one day and this perhaps told on the legs of those athletes not yet residing at Castle Grobler and his notoriously light technique based programme.
Henry Pelly, Pete Marsland, Josh Tonar and Karen Bennett also raced in singles with Henry finishing 6th in the C final and Karen coming 6th in the U23 field.
A great set of results for Molesey, well done to all the rowers and Coach Lewis for managing the club based group between bouts of quoting Blackadder Goes Forth.
