Gold, Silver and 2 Bronze for Molesey's Young Stars

Molesey Juniors returned from Nottingham with 4 medals, including Gold in the Girls J16 coxed four, Silver in the Girls Championship coxless four and 2 Bronze in the Girls Championship 8 and Girls J16 4x, the squad also gained a 4th in Championship 2x and 5th in Championship 2-. 6 Finalists, 4 in Championship events from 8 entries reflects the strength in depth in the squad.
The girls J16 group, whose focus all year has been learning to train and the process goals that go with that have demonstrated that they have real quality that has not only won medals this season but shows such huge promise for future seasons.
Racing all weekend was affected by a strong headwind with Saturday's racing being seeded in echelon rather than chevron and Sunday's racing becoming 1000m timetrials for all events with no side by side racing. This made the weekend not quite the climax one hopes for but hats off to the organisers who made sure all events were raced and that the regatta ran smoothly.
I would like this report to be longer but there was so little racing over the weekend that there is little more to say other than to repeat my congratulations to the athletes who got on with it over the weekend just as they have got on with it all year, and for many years before that too. I look forward to the possibility of actually racing side by side more than once at a regatta (see post below) at some point this season, Henley...?
