Henley Womens Regatta preview

Molesey will have 3 Junior crews racing at Henley Womens Regatta this coming weekend. All 3 crews are medalists from the recent National Schools Regatta although there has been some musical chairs following internal testing. The J18 girls (Frankie Hughes, Becky Thompson, Courtenay Hallwood and Grace Prigmore) are bravely taking on a new challenge in that they are racing elite lightweight coxless fours, this is not only a senior event but also demands that they 'make weight' at an average of 57kg. Their first race is on Sunday at 12:20pm and will be against the winner of a composite versus Glasgow University.
The J16 girls are entered in the quad and the coxed four, the line ups are now, in the quad stroke: Maddie Thew, 3: Lilly Cocks, 2: Sophie Hughes and bow: Helen Brown and in the coxed four stroke: Susanna Carr, 3: Martha Godfrey, 2: Seren Orsman, bow: Alice Harper and cox: Katie Winter. The quad races first against Headington 'B' at 09:07 on Saturday morning while the coxed four waits until 10:16 on Sunday morning.
All three crews have had a weekend at Henley already and will be training at both MBC and Henley in the lead up to the weekend, not to mention taking a number of GCSES and A levels. The ability of this group to combine such challenges never ceases to amaze me.
